FIRST HAWAIIAN BANK DONATES $25,000 FOR KATRINA RELIEF FUND
TO HELP HURRICANE VICTIMS
(Honolulu, Hawaii, August 31, 2005) – First Hawaiian Bank today created an Aloha Katrina Relief Fund to assist relief efforts for victims of the devastating hurricane along the Gulf Coast. Donations to the relief fund may be made at any branch of First Hawaiian Bank to benefit the American Red Cross and The Salvation Army.
First Hawaiian kicked off the fund with a total donation of $25,000 to the American Red Cross and The Salvation Army, President and CEO Don Horner said.
“As we know all too well here in Hawaii, hurricanes can devastate lives and property at any time. We want our neighbors on the Mainland to experience our aloha at this difficult time,” Horner said.
Horner said donations (which are tax deductible) can be made at any of the bank’s 61 branches in Hawaii, Guam and Saipan.
The public may make donation checks payable to:
- The Salvation Army Katrina Disaster Fund, or
- American Red Cross Hurricane 2005 Relief Fund.
Honolulu-based First Hawaiian Bank ($11 billion assets) was founded in 1858 and is Hawaii’s oldest and largest bank. It has 56 branches in Hawaii, three on Guam and two on Saipan. It is a subsidiary of BancWest Corporation, a Hawaii-based regional bank holding company with assets of $50 billion.
