FIRST HAWAIIAN BANK HELPS RAISE
$250,000 FOR KATRINA RELIEF
(Honolulu, Hawaii, September 20, 2005) -- First Hawaiian Bank’s Katrina Relief Fund has collected more than $250,000 for Hurricane Katrina relief efforts by the American Red Cross and The Salvation Army.
First Hawaiian Bank created its Katrina Relief Fund on August 31; the bank kicked off the effort with a donation of $25,000 to the American Red Cross and The Salvation Army. The bank set up accounts to make it convenient for bank customers and the public to make donations at any of the 61 First Hawaiian branches.
“There’s been a tremendous response from our customers and the public,” said First Hawaiian Bank President and CEO Don Horner. “It’s one more sign of the incredible aloha spirit and the generous heart of Hawaii’s people.”
Donations made through First Hawaiian branches will assist:
• The Salvation Army Katrina Disaster Fund, or
• American Red Cross Hurricane 2005 Relief Fund.
The accounts remain open, so anyone wishing to make monetary contributions to the Red Cross or Salvation Army can still drop off checks payable to one of these funds at any First Hawaiian Bank branch.
“We’d love to hit our target of $300,000. We’re almost there,” Horner said.
Honolulu-based First Hawaiian Bank ($11 billion assets) was founded in 1858 and is Hawaii’s oldest and largest bank. It has 56 branches in Hawaii, three on Guam and two on Saipan.
