Community Care Events
See some of the ways we’re helping our communities thrive
Aina in the Schools
Momilani Elementary School
Clearing trees, planting fruit trees, constructing benches, and establishing new planting beds – all in a day’s work of volunteering on the Wai’ane Coast. What a great way to help introduce farm to table initiatives with our school aged children!
Nourishing Ohana
Hawaii Foodbank Food Drive Day 2024
Did you know our Hawaii Foodbank provides Senior Boxes of food for our kupuna each month? Our volunteers packed approximately 2,100 boxes for our Oahu seniors including cereals, rice, canned fruits and vegetables, juice, and other groceries to help fill their pantries. We’re proud to be part of this project and to keep our kupuna healthy.
Celebrating LGBTQ Community
Honolulu Pride Parade
We celebrate with the diversity in our community by walking along-side other supporters in the Honolulu Pride Parade. This annual event has spread from its original beginnings in 1970 from New York and today is a world-wide annual event for our LGBTQ community!
Environmental Restoration
Kuilei Cliffs
Our team of volunteers helped pave the way for environmental and urban seabird restoration. Volunteers took on tasks like clearing out branches and pulling weeds to aid in developing green space for better land use and reducing the invasive species.
Helping Our Families
HUGS (Help, Understanding & Group Support) Volunteer Day
FHB employees volunteered at the HUGS house, dedicating time to enhance the facility’s landscape, sanitize the sandbox, and pack backpacks for back to school. They also crafted cheerful and positive greeting cards to share with families in need.
Animal Care
Hawaiian Humane Society
Volunteers came out to support the Hawaiian Humane Society. Tasks that the volunteers took on included building 140 pet beds, providing comfortable resting spots for animals at the shelter. Mahalo for the opportunity to support animal well-being in our community.
Environment Awareness
Genki Balls Ala Wai Project
Over 100 volunteers came out and volunteered their time to participate in the Genki Ball Ala Wai project. Together, they assembled and the Genki balls into the Ala Wai Canal, contributing to the effort to improve its water quality.
