First Hawaiian Bank Continues Statewide Slippah Drive to Support Child & Family Service

Donations of new slippers can be dropped off at all FHB Hawaii branches through August 20, 2021

HONOLULU, July 30, 2021 -- First Hawaiian Bank (FHB) is holding a Slippah Drive benefitting Child & Family Service (CFS). The community is invited to drop off new pairs of slippers at any of First Hawaiian Bank’s 49 branches statewide now through August 20, 2021. Slipper donations made on the neighbor islands will remain on that island for their community.

“Slippers are a basic need in Hawaii that many in the community go without. Bringing hope and support to people in need can be as simple as offering someone a new pair of slippers,” said Bob Harrison, First Hawaiian Bank Chairman, President and CEO. “We invite everyone to join us in donating to this statewide Slippah Drive to support Child & Family Service’s efforts to meet this need in our community.”

Many in our community – ranging from Keiki to kupuna – are in need of slippers of all sizes and any color. They can be a small source of comfort and confidence as people try to get their life on track, and CFS provides new slippers to families at its shelters and during interactions between case workers and families at home.

“We couldn’t be more appreciative to the staff of First Hawaiian Bank and their incredible effort behind this slipper drive. We’re so humbled to be recipients of your generosity,” said Karen Tan, Child & Family Service President & CEO. “The donation will benefit many of our participants statewide, from keiki to kupuna, including those in shelters, walk-in family centers, and residential homes, to name a few.”

The bank’s employees made the first donation of 800 pairs of new slippers to the FHB Slippah Drive. Their Community Care team—a bank-wide group of employees who volunteer their time to community service activities—helped to sort and tag each pair for Child & Family Service.
