Honolulu, September 17, 2022 - First Hawaiian Bank (FHB) today announced that more than 135 employees participated in the annual Hawaii Walk Like MADD 2022 event on Saturday, September 17 at Kakaako Waterfront Park. As part of the bank’s Community Care program, dedicated FHB employees, joined by family and friends, participated in the family-friendly 5K fundraising walk to support this important and vital organization and its mission to save lives by eliminating drunk driving. Today’s event raised more than $108,000, surpassing the non-profit’s goal of $90,000.

“We are committed to the health and safety of the communities we serve, which is why supporting organizations like MADD through this community event is important to our employees,” said First Hawaiian Bank Chairman, President and CEO Bob Harrison. “The turnout today from the First Hawaiian Bank team and the community at-large shows that education about the dangers of underage drinking and eliminating impaired drivers from our streets is a priority and we are ready to be part of the solution.”

FHB participants raised funds to support MADD Hawaii, which advocates for high-visibility law enforcement, in-car breathalyzers for convicted drunk drivers, and the increased awareness on these important issues to save lives and end drunk driving.

First Hawaiian Bank’s Community Care is an employee volunteer service program, launched in 2014, connecting nonprofits with employees willing and ready to lend a hand. This bank-wide initiative is completely run by employees, with employees serving alongside senior managers to volunteer their time and talents throughout Hawaii, Guam, and Saipan. Volunteer community service activities focus on helping the elderly, children, families, and the environment.
