First Hawaiian Bank Announces Four Promotions
Honolulu, February 28, 2025 - First Hawaiian Bank Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Bob Harrison announced the advancement of four individuals.
Dean Uyeda, Senior Vice President and Division Manager, Commercial Banking Group. Dean Uyeda has been promoted to senior vice president and division manager of First Hawaiian Bank’s Commercial Banking Group. He is responsible for working with a team of commercial bankers serving business customers in Hawaii and Guam to provide loans to fund operating and investment needs. Uyeda has 24 years of banking experience in consumer, commercial and mortgage lending serving in both sales and risk management roles. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He is currently a member of the Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce, and a board member of Goodwill Industries of Hawaii, the Institute for Human Services, and the Oahu Economic Development Board. Raised in Honolulu, Uyeda currently resides in Hawaii Kai.
Luke J. Kudray, Vice President and Data Analysis Officer, Consumer Credit & Originations Department. Luke J. Kudray has been promoted to vice president and data analysis officer of First Hawaiian Bank’s Consumer Credit & Originations Department. He is responsible for working with the internal team and vendors to implement AI-enabled data, automation, and modeling solutions to improve application and underwriting processes. He has 12 years of experience in banking including commercial and corporate loan underwriting, investment management, and credit risk research. Kudray earned his Bachelor of Arts in Finance from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. A native of Michigan, he currently resides in Kaneohe.
Michael F. Puopolo, Vice President and Team Lead, Analytics Risk Management Group. Michael F. Puopolo has been promoted to vice president and team lead of First Hawaiian Bank’s Analytics Risk Management Group. He is responsible for overseeing the ARM team’s day-to-day activities that manage model risk at the bank, including model validations, performance monitoring, and issues management. The range of models includes traditional financial and risk frameworks as well as advanced machine learning and AI methodologies. Puopolo has 14 years of experience in analytics, including 10 years of experience in modeling and data science. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Lehigh University and his Master of Business Administration in Corporate Finance from Boston College. A native of Georgetown, Massachusetts, Puopolo currently resides in Kaneohe.
Shannon M. Chow, Vice President and Consumer Lending Products Lead, Consumer Products Division. Shannon M. Chow has been promoted to vice president and consumer lending products lead of First Hawaiian Bank’s Consumer Products Division. She is responsible for managing First Hawaiian Bank’s HELOC, consumer installment loan/unsecured revolving line, and small business installment loan/revolving line products. She joined First Hawaiian Bank in 2017, and holds a Certified Scrum Professional® - Product Owner (CSP-PO) certification from the Scrum Alliance. A graduate of Roosevelt High School, Chow earned her Bachelor of Arts in Economics and History from Brown University. Raised in Honolulu, she currently resides in Makiki.
