First Hawaiian Bank Donates Lāna'i Branch to Maui County
Honolulu, July 8, 2024 - First Hawaiian Bank today announced its decision to donate its Lāna'i Branch to Maui County, including the building and land situated at 644 Lāna'i Avenue. The branch concluded operations at this location on Friday, June 28, 2024.
Bob Harrison, Chairman, President and CEO of First Hawaiian Bank, expressed gratitude to the community on Lāna'i, stating, “The island of Lāna'i is a special place and we have appreciated being able to serve its community. Donating the branch to the county will ensure that the location will be used in a way that aligns with the priorities and the needs of island residents.”
The branch has been a cornerstone of the tight-knit community and Maui County plans to work with Lāna'i residents to determine the best use of this prime location.
“This is a gracious gesture from First Hawaiian Bank, and they have consistently been great partners,” said Maui County Mayor Richard Bissen. “We are exploring options for use of this property, including the possibility that it will include space for new Maui Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) staff on Lānaʻi. That being said, we will be seeking feedback from the Lānaʻi community to determine the best utilization of this property.”
