Bank celebrates 80 years of serving the Waikiki community

HONOLULU, December 20, 2021 -- First Hawaiian Bank (FHB) held a blessing this morning, Monday, December 20, at its new Waikiki Branch located at 2181 Kalakaua Avenue. FHB has had a presence in Waikiki since 1941, and the opening of this new branch celebrates 80 years of service in this historic community.

First Hawaiian Bank’s new 5,061-square foot Waikiki Branch features an open, contemporary design inspired by muliwai, “where the stream meets the sea,” a nod to Waikiki’s naturally rich and abundant past. Just as the muliwai produced and nurtured a rich productive ecosystem for sustainable living, First Hawaiian Bank’s new location will serve as a destination to protect and cultivate the financial well-being of its customers.

Centrally located in Waikiki near the corner of Kalakaua Avenue and Lewers Street, just steps from its previous location, this full-service branch will offer:

  • Specialists available by appointment for private consultation with customers to discuss personalized retirement planning, wealth management, and residential mortgage needs.
  • Japanese-speaking bankers to serve Japanese clientele.
  • 24/7 access no-envelope ATM and a second no-envelope ATM inside the branch lobby.
  • Night Depository for merchant customers
  • New dedicated service counter for merchant customers within the branch
  • First Hawaiian also offers digital solutions for customers through FHB Online and FHB Mobile Banking

The branch features low-VOC paint, LED lighting with occupancy sensors, and UV tinted glass windows, which provide ample natural light. As with all FHB branches, health and safety measures are in place to keep employees and customers safe through the pandemic including plexiglass shields at areas of direct customer interaction, signage for social distancing, and hand sanitizing stations.
